Spreading the Load

Conventional methods of pavement construction spread traffic loads through varying thicknesses of sub-base construction.

When clicked together the inter-locking panels of EASYClickBase distribute dynamic loads over a wide area, greatly reducing the thickness of sub-base required. This is the power of the modular paving base system in action.

Driveways and more heavy duty applications

The weight distribution characteristics make EASYClickBase suitable for a wide range of vehicle loading without deep excavations of sub-soil.

In heavy duty applications a combination of EASYClickBase and sub-base may be required but the principle is the same.

Basic installation

The versatility of EASYClickBase means it can be used in a multitude of ways.

The adjacent page shows how simple the installation of EASYClickBase can be. The same installation method applies for a patio as well as for a driveway.

Simply scrape away the topsoil to allow sufficient depth for a shallow bedding layer, EASYClickBase and the chosen surface material.

Brief usage instructions

1. Remove the top surface from the area to be paved to a sufficient depth to allow for EASYClickBase and the intended surface product.
2. Compact the soil to achieve an even and level solid surface. If there are undulations read and follow instructions at No.4.
3. Cover surface with a geotextile membrane.
4. If necessary use sharp sand or some other fine binding aggregate to ensure a compacted level surface is achieved.
5. Lay EASYClickBase on to the prepared ground making sure to stagger the joints.
6. For paving that requires jointing, simply sweep sand across the surface to fill the EASYClickBase tiles as this increases load spread and prevents joint fillers from being wasted.
7. Thin surface dressings such as porcelain should be glued to EASYClickBase using EASYAdhesive.
8. To achieve a perfectly level surface use EASYTileAlign. Once the adhesive has cured simply snap off the tile spacers and fill the joints using any of the EASYJoint or EASYGrout products.
9. When using standard block paving, lay directly on to EASYClickBase or a thin layer of bedding sand if block heights are uneven. Fill joints with kiln dried sand.
